It took a painful final round and three ugly playoff holes, but Harrison Frazar eventually grinded out the first PGA Tour win of his old career. It was a two-horse race coming into Sunday, with Frazar and Robert Karlsson seperating themselves from the rest of the field. But despite the disappointing winner and relatively boring final round, there were still some fantasy points to be had this week. Let’s take a look…
For the second straight week, Bryce looked like a man on fire, as he registered another top ten and a helpful 60 points, to vault him over the 1000 point mark. Charles Howell finished in a tie for third this week, and has scored 70 points over the last three weeks for the Brycemaster. The slumping Robert Allenby also chipped in 20 points this week, and Dave might have to start checking his rear-view mirror, as Bryce is now right on his tale.
The ever-positive Brent raked in the second most points this week, as major disappointment Camilo Villegas registered his first top ten of the season (a third place finish). Newcomer Jonothan Byrd also cashed in a top 25 (barely) as Brent closed the gap between himself and second place, with a healthy 55 point week.
Fuchs and Dave both scored 20 points this week, so why not combine their wrap-up time? Fuchs ended up only playing Brandt Snedeker after J.B. Holmes withdrew before the start of the tournament, but Snedeker proved his weight in rice and slithered on up to a top fifteen. It was a different story for Dave, who had an unusual six golfers playing, but benched the only top ten of the bunch in Retief Goosen. Defending champion Lee Westwood carded a top fifteen, but that won’t take the bad taste out of Dave’s mouth with Bryce now less than seventy points behind him.
There wasn’t much to say about James’ team this week. Padraig Harrington decided to show up which was kind of nice. However as we do not award points for top-52’s, he proved to be worthless, registering a goose egg. Zach Johnson couldn’t creep into the top twenty five, ending his streak of three top tens.
Beast didn’t get any points.
That’s the wrap-up for the week my friends. I look forward to some meaningful golf next week!!
