What? An article on Saturday night? What is James thinking? Well… James is thinking he’s bored and really has nothing else to do. So here goes the first mid-tournament article of the year…
It’s about time some actual golfers started playing in these tournaments. Through the first two tournaments of the year we’ve been cursed by no-names Jhonattan Vegas and Mark Wilson taking home the hardware. This week things appear to be looking up. The top ten is riddled with stars like Mickelson, Anthony Kim, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson. But perhaps more importantly than the stars we have in the top ten, is the fact that our league will likely get it’s first win of the year. The top five players on the leaderboard are all owned and active this week and that doesn’t even include Johnson or the youngster Rickie Fowler. All these golfers in the top ten mean it’s shaping up to be a big week fantasy-wise, so let’s take a look at the point totals for the week if things stay right where they are now.
With Mickelson and Haas taking first and second, and another top ten by Rickie Fowler, James would be up 175 points by Sunday night. Beast is looking to keep the momentum going, but so far only Anthony Kim would earn him any points finishing fifth and earning 35. Dustin Johnson is sitting in the top ten right now and Tiger is in a tie for 24th, but with Tiger’s history at Torrey Pines, he had to be expecting more than a meager 40 points. Brent loves his Ben Crane, but no amount of love can take away the sting of a 40 point week from a full roster. Dave predicted a big year for Bubba, and he’s on pace to earn him 40 of his 45 points for this week. Fuchs is going to regret not playing Snedeker, but a 55 point week with 40 from Mahan would help ease his pain.
Things will likely change come tomorrow, but for now that is how the scores are playing out. Thanks for reading, gentlemen. Peace out.
