Ah… It’s good to be back.
Week one of our 2011 Fantasy Golf season has come to a close, and like many of the smaller weeks last year, it was won by a ‘no name’, unowned player. Mark Wilson is the lucky recipient of this weeks hardware, and although he earned it, it’s disappointing that the points couldn’t go to someone who would make use of them in our league.
But despite the winner being a nomad, it was still a relatively positive week for fantasy. The Beast put together a stellar week with two top 10’s and 100 total points (an additional 85 points was scored by his bench!), and he now leads going into week two. While Bryce may be mourning the departure of his beloved ‘Iron Goose’, fellow South African Tim Clark helped ease the pain with a final round charge and a second place finish worth 50 points. Kevin Na popped out another 15 to help him to a total of 65, good for second place). Dave made his league debut with a nice 35 point week on the backs of Justin Rose and beloved ‘grinder’ John Senden. Brent and Fuchs share 4th place with 20 points each, although Brent has to be disappointed with that total, as Appleby was right in contention at the beginning of the final round. Your’s truly had only one golfer this week, and despite making the cut, he didn’t crack the top fifty and finished with a goose egg.
That’s the first week my friends. These small tournaments may not seem like they make that big a difference, but points are points, and with first and second separated by just 90 points last year, a single tier one tournament can be the difference in the end.
Thanks for reading this little writeup boys. Also want to remind everyone that the Bob Hope Classic starts WEDNESDAY. So make sure you get your rosters in on time! Until next time, so long my friends.
