Many golf experts picked Brandt Snedeker as a sleeper pick in this week’s field and so far he is delivering big time. Poised for a breakout year, Snedeker already has 2 top 10’s in 2010, including a 2nd place finish at the Farmer’s Insurance Open. In the four tournaments that Snedeker has played in this year, he has finished in the top 25 all four times. Snedeker has proven to be the model of consistency so far this tournament going 5-under, 4-under, and 5-under through the first three rounds. If the talented golfer from Nashville, Tennessee can keep that pace going tomorrow, he’s likely to claim his second win, and first since 2007.
Sitting in second place is Scott Piercy, a relatively unknown golfer who managed only 2 top 10’s last year despite playing in 28 tournaments. Two third round eagles helped him get to 13-under, but there are questions as to whether he can withstand the pressure of playing in the final pairing Sunday afternoon. The other threats to Snedeker’s lead are Matt Every and Rickie Fowler, both at 12-under, as well as a slew of players sitting at 10-under including Camilo Villegas, Hunter Mahan and Charles Howell III.
