Ian Poulter had to go through Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Paul Casey to claim his first PGA Tour win. Playing in a bracket decimated by upsets, Poulter had a relatively easy run to the semi-finals. It was there that he stepped his game up, destroying Sergio Garcie before moving on to beat Paul Casey in the 36 hole final. Despite winning many of his early matches by a large margin, Casey had a more difficult schedule, needing to go through Mike Weir, Stephen Ames, Brian Gay, Stewart Cink, and Camilo Villegas enroute to the final.
In was a tough week for the perennial underachiever Sergio Garcia. He was beaten in twelve holes in the semi-finals by Poulter, and then lasted just 14 holes in the consolation final vs. Villegas.
Fantasy Impact: This week seperated Brent and Bryce even more from the pack, as they are just 10 points apart, but still 165 points ahead of anyone else. It’s clear from these results that top 10’s aren’t going to mean much this season and by the end the winner will most likely be the manager with the most wins. Just 2 tournaments into the season and will all four majors left to play, it’s anybody’s game, but teams like Cody and The Beast need to start winning to avoid opening up an even bigger deficit.
